Account Information
Q: Why can't I edit my account information?
- If the Edit button is grayed out, the school does not allow users to update their own information. Contact your school office to update information in their SIS.
Q: How do I change my child associations?
- If you need to add or remove children from your account, contact your school office. They will need to update the SIS records, which will then sync to ParentSquare.
Q: Can parents have more than one email or phone number?
- Each contact has only one email and phone associated with it. A parent account can have multiple contacts, with multiple emails and phone numbers if they have different emails/phones for each child in the SIS or across districts.
Q: Can I add my own email and phone number?
- Many schools require contact information changes to be made through their SIS rather than directly in ParentSquare. If your school does allow changes to be made in ParentSquare, you are ONLY allowed to add an email or phone if none exists. Otherwise you can only edit existing emails/phones.
Q: Can I delete my ParentSquare account?
- Account deletion requests should be directed to your school administration. They can remove your account from their SIS, which will delete your access to ParentSquare for that institution.
Q: Can family members share an email or phone number?
- Yes, family members can share an email or phone number and yet have different accounts. When multiple people share the same contact information, ParentSquare will prompt you to select your account when signing in.
Q: My email or phone number says it's already taken. What should I do?
- If you get a message that your email or phone number has already been taken by another user, you may have duplicate accounts. You can merge accounts to consolidate your information. If you need help with your user account information, contact your school. To learn more, see Missing a child or school in ParentSquare (combine/merge accounts).
Contact Verification
Q: How do I verify a landline phone number?
- Landlines cannot be verified in ParentSquare. If asked to verify the phone number, click, Skip for Now.
Q: What happens if a parent accidentally rejects their child during verification?
- If you're a parent or guardian and accidentally clicked Not My Child during verification, please contact your school to correct the association.
Q: Will I be sent through the verification process every time I log in?
- No, after you complete the verification process, nothing else is needed unless your contact information changes.
Q: How can I confirm my contact information if I skipped it when I signed in?
- The next time you sign out and then sign in again, you'll be asked to verify your contact information.
- OR, when you are signed in to ParentSquare, click on your name in the upper right and select Manage Account. Go to the yellow box, Missing kids, schools or contact info? and select Confirm Contact Info.
- Follow the verification steps to complete the process.
Q: I never received my verification code by email or text, can I have it resent?
- For security purposes, email and text verification codes are only valid for 10 minutes after they are requested. If you need another code, click Resend Code. If you request a new code, the previous code(s) will still be valid for those 10 minutes. To learn more, see Account Management: Troubleshooting.
Passwords
Q: What is a breached password? Why do I need to change my password?
- We cross-referenced your login credentials with a database of known breaches and recommend creating a new password to protect your account and keep school information secure.
- Password Monitor provides additional security to prevent potential attackers from using leaked information to access our platform. To learn more, see Manage your Security settings.
Q: Can we opt out or turn off Password Monitor?
- Password Monitor cannot be turned off. We encourage all users to consider protecting their accounts by maintaining a strong password.
Q: I need to reset my password. Why didn't I receive the reset password email or text?
- The reset password link or code will be sent to the email address or phone number associated with your account. If you do not receive the email or text it is possible they are bouncing, blocked or being filtered out before reaching your inbox or phone. Please contact your school for assistance.
Restricted Sessions
Q: How does restricted sessions impact non-staff users with SSO?
- Non-staff users are impacted by SSO restrictions if they log in using a district portal, SIS, Clever, ClassLink, or similar providers. You may need to sign in separately for each district you're associated with. To learn more, see Manage Your Security Settings.
Q: What happens on the mobile app with restricted sessions?
- The experience is the same as using a browser. SSO restrictions apply equally to mobile and web access.
Notification Settings
Q: How does ParentSquare decide which contact details to use when sending a message?
When ParentSquare sends a message and there are multiple contact options, the system uses the following priority order:
- If an email or phone is verified, it is always preferred over non-verified emails/phones.
- If the user selected Preferred instead of Choose Best Match we choose the most preferred email or phone.
- If an email or phone is on a manual contact, it is preferred over emails and phones synced from the SIS (this allows admin overrides).
- If an email or phone is marked undeliverable (bounces, spam, etc.), then deliverable emails and phones are preferred.
- If different district and school emails are available, the email or phone from the school or district where the message was sent from is preferred.
- If all other things are equal, an arbitrary contact is chosen.
Q: Do School Alerts override my notification settings?
- The School Alerts do not override your notification settings. School Alerts is a separate notification setting and toggle can be set to On or Off. To learn more, see Set Up Your Account.
Language
Q: Can I change the language of the application menus?
- To change the application menus to Spanish, click Español in the top menu bar. Spanish and English are the only languages available for the application menus. To learn more, see Manage Your Account Settings.

- Enter an out-of-office message in the About You section.
- When the staff member returns, they should adjust notification settings as they'd like and update their bio.
Note: If the staff member shouldn't login during their leave, then contact support@parentsquare.com to disable their account temporarily.
