Posts are a versatile communication tool for sharing information, promoting upcoming events and highlighting achievements with your school community. Whether you need to send a quick update to parents, announce an upcoming field trip or share classroom news, posts provide a flexible way to reach your audience through their preferred notification channels.

What Are Posts?
Posts allow you to communicate with your whole school, specific grade levels, individual classes or groups. You can send posts from both the web platform and the mobile app (iOS and Android), making it easy to stay connected wherever you are.
Notifications for posts are sent based on each recipient's notification preferences. To control the type of notifications recipients receive (instant alerts vs. daily digest), you can use Alerts.
ParentSquare offers two ways to create posts:
- Standard Posts: Use the regular post editor for typical messages and updates
- Studio Editor: Use Studio Editor for creating visually-designed newsletters with advanced layout options. Learn more in Studio Editor: Overview.
When to Use Posts
- Sharing general information and updates.
- Promoting upcoming events.
- Highlighting student achievements.
- Communicating with specific groups or classes.
- Sharing information that doesn't require immediate action.
For a comparison of ParentSquare communication tools and when to use each one, see ParentSquare Communication Tools.
Key Features
Recipients and Visibility
- When creating a post, you can select recipients by class, group, grade or school. You can further filter who should see the post (staff, parents, guests or students if StudentSquare is enabled).
- Confidential Posts: Make posts private so that recipients cannot see who else received the post. This is useful for sensitive communications. Learn more about confidential posts.
Notification Options
- Send at recipients preferred time: Instant or digest based on individual preferences. Note: If it is after 6:00 pm and you want to send a same-day post, select "Send instantly". Otherwise, digest email and text users will receive the post the following day.
- Send instantly: Override digest settings for urgent messages.
- Do not notify: Post appears on the Posts page without sending notifications.
- For detailed notification information, see Notifications for Posts.
Add-Ons
- Enhance your posts with interactive features like appointment sign-ups, volunteer requests, forms, polls, RSVP events, and more. For a complete overview of available add-ons and when to use them, see Post Add-Ons and Best Practices.
